In some areas of Oklahoma, it may be common to see golf carts on the roads. The laws regarding golf cart usage vary widely from city to city. But no matter the legalities of the matter, it’s easy to see how those riding a golf cart would be vulnerable in the event of a crash involving a larger vehicle. Sadly, a man died recently when his golf cart collided with a pickup truck.
Deadly collision with pickup truck
The accident occurred on a weekday morning in the city limits of Welch. A 60-year-old man was on a golf cart in a driveway off U.S. 59. Authorities believe the man was waiting for the road to clear so he could cross to the other side. When he drove into the street, he collided with a Dodge pickup. The impact caused the man to fall from the cart and he was struck by the trailer the truck was pulling.
The golf cart driver was pronounced dead at the accident scene. No information has yet been released about who was at fault in the accident. If fault can be attributed to the pickup driver, the victim’s family has the option to pursue a civil case based on the laws in the state.
Assistance after a deadly accident
Losing a loved one in any type of accident can leave a family not only emotionally drained but also financially. Funeral costs, medical bills, and other expenses can add up quickly. When an accident happens because of the negligence of another driver, that driver can be held liable through the civil court system. Oklahoma families who’ve lost a loved one in an accident have the right to seek advice from an experienced personal injury attorney.
