A collision between a school bus and a tractor-trailer has left the bus driver with serious injuries. Fortunately, no passengers were on the bus at the time of the accident. The wreck occurred a few miles east of Miami, Oklahoma. The investigation into the incident is ongoing and there is a possibility for charges to be filed at a later time.

A school bus was traveling eastbound on I-44 in Ottawa County near mile marker 318. According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the bus was rear-ended by a Peterbilt tractor-trailer that was also traveling eastbound. The impact caused the school bus to leave the roadway and roll approximately three times before coming to rest on its side. The driver of the tractor-trailer was able to pull over safely to the shoulder without further incident.
The 62-year-old bus driver was the sole occupant of the 2022 International school bus. He was taken by EMS to a nearby hospital and admitted with critical injuries. The driver of the truck was not injured. The initial report lists the cause of the accident as inattentive driving by the truck driver.
