There are many factors that contribute to vehicle crashes. Some are just accidents, while others are the fault of the driver. Being impatient while driving and not following the rules of the road can lead to tragic circumstances. In this case, a driver was frustrated with traffic and that led to her decision to drive in an unsafe manner, causing a head-on collision. Unfortunately, three lives were lost in this Oklahoma accident.

Accident details

Just outside of Purcell, a woman was driving a pickup truck when she was slowed down by traffic. The details about the accident are not clear at this time, but it seems that the woman attempted to get around the traffic by going into the opposite lane to pass other vehicles. The area in which she was traveling was a no-passing zone. She struck an oncoming SUV that contained a driver and three passengers.

The people in the SUV were on their way to a local high school basketball game when the crash occurred. Three of the SUV occupants were killed in the accident. Oklahoma State Troopers claim that the other passenger in the SUV, a 2-year-old girl, was saved because she was properly restrained in her car seat. Further investigation could lead to charges against the driver of the truck.

Taking action against negligent drivers

Navigating the roadways comes with the responsibility of driving safely and following traffic laws. Those laws are made to help keep people safe while on the road. When a driver ignores the laws and chooses to drive in an unsafe manner, the results can be deadly. Accident victims and their surviving family members may have the option to pursue a civil case against a driver believed to have been at fault. Speaking with an experienced Oklahoma attorney can provide further insight on how to proceed with a personal injury or wrongful death case.
