Oklahoma City crash leads to death of 2 pedestrians

On Behalf of | Mar 25, 2022 | Car Accidents

When walking in a city or town, people use the sidewalk assuming they are safe from traffic. But this isn’t always the case. Sometimes, accidents occur where vehicles leave the roadway and strike pedestrians who were following the rules and using the sidewalks as intended. These types of accidents can be deadly. One recent accident in Oklahoma City left two pedestrians dead after they were struck by a pickup truck.

Accident details

This tragic accident happened on a Thursday evening. The pedestrians were on the sidewalk when a truck left the roadway, jumped a curb and struck them both. They both died at the scene. The driver of the truck appeared to have suffered from a medical event that caused him to crash. Police say that he did not appear to be under the influence of any substance.

The pickup driver cooperated with the police at the scene. Because of the nature of the crash, he was taken to a local hospital and was not arrested at the time. The accident is still under investigation. Charges could follow at a later time if it can be established that the pickup driver was at fault.

Legal assistance for victims or their families

Losing a loved one to a tragic accident like this one can cause severe trauma for the surviving family members. They will understandably want answers about the crash that killed their loved ones. In many cases, if the fault of another driver can be proven, the family may have the option to pursue a personal injury case against the other party. When an Oklahoma accident victim, or their surviving family members, seek to pursue this type of case, they can benefit from seeking advice from a personal injury attorney.
