Man’s death possibly linked to recalled airbag

Recalls on vehicle parts are not uncommon. Vehicle owners in Oklahoma and other states should be aware of recalls on their vehicles because some can cause safety issues if not dealt with in a timely manner. While some recalls are for minor car parts, others, like those for airbags, can lead to serious injury or death if the recalled part is not repaired or replaced. Sadly, a man in another state lost his life while driving his pickup, and authorities believe the recalled airbag inside the truck may have been to blame.

Was his death preventable?

The victim was a 23-year-old Navy officer. He was found dead in his pickup truck after an accident. After an investigation into the crash, authorities believe that he was killed by the airbag, which deployed during the crash. The airbag was part of a recall where the manufacturer recommended that it be repaired as soon as possible.

The victim’s family claims that the man never received a notice of the recall. He is not the first person to have been killed in an accident involving this airbag brand and model. The family of the victim is now suing for wrongful death.

Legal options after a tragic accident

Family members of victims killed by defective vehicle parts have the right to speak with an Oklahoma attorney to see what legal options they have. This type of accident not only devastates a family emotionally but can also leave family members with unexpected costs related to the death of their loved one. A successful product liability lawsuit against the product manufacturer can help offset documented monetary damages.
