The occupants of a vehicle traveling on NE 23rd Street in Oklahoma City had no way of knowing they would never reach their destination. At approximately 2 p.m., police and rescue departments were dispatched to the intersection of NE 23rd and Jordan Avenue. Witnesses say that the driver of the truck that caused the collision was moving at a high rate of speed moments before he hit the other vehicle.
Sadly, one of the occupants of the vehicle that was struck was killed in the collision. Several other people in the vehicle were transported to a nearby hospital for emergency care. Thankfully, they were later reported to be in stable condition.
Truck driver was taken into police custody following the collision
The driver of the truck that was reportedly speeding just before striking the other vehicle was arrested. He was then taken to a hospital to obtain medical attention. Oklahoma police later said that this individual would be facing criminal charges in connection with the collision.
When a family unexpectedly loses a loved one in a fatal collision just before the holidays, it intensifies their grief. It is not uncommon for this type of incident to trigger feelings of frustration and anger because, in many cases, any death that occurred was preventable had it not been for another driver’s negligence or reckless actions. In addition to severe emotional trauma, families often experience grave financial distress due to unexpected funeral expenses and other costs, which is why Oklahoma law allows an immediate family member to file a wrongful death claim in civil court to seek restitution.
