The seriousness of a T-bone accident

On Behalf of | May 5, 2024 | Car Accidents

Side impact collisions, also known as T-bone accidents, can leave Oklahoma motorists and passengers with serious injuries. These collisions can happen for many reasons, but most often occur when one driver does not yield the right of way. T-bone collisions may happen at intersections if a driver is distracted and doesn’t stop at the stop sign or red light. Most often, the driver not yielding the right of way is considered negligent and can be held liable for damage and injuries that occur.

T-bone accidents

A T-bone accident can happen when a driver is impaired, distracted, or simply not following driving laws. These accidents, which occur when one vehicle strikes another perpendicularly, can cause significant damage to both vehicles. Those inside the vehicle that is struck on the side may suffer from whiplash, brain injuries, or injuries to the spinal cord. These could be short-term or long-term injuries.

Drivers should always use caution when navigating through intersections, even if they have the green light. Watching out for drivers who aren’t paying attention may reduce one’s chances of being involved in a T-bone crash. However, even the most cautious drivers can still be injured due to the negligence of another driver.

Help for injured victims

Oklahoma victims who have been injured because of another driver’s negligence have the right to seek compensation. A successful personal injury lawsuit can provide funds to pay for medical bills, physical therapy, and expenses related to loss of work. Victims can benefit from speaking with an attorney to understand if they have cause to proceed forward with a civil lawsuit against the driver at fault.
